Victorian Restoration, Cambridge

Victorian Restoration, Cambridge

When the owner of this Queen Anne Victorian decided to completely restore the family home he grew up in, careful and loving recreation of the original house’s details and history were of paramount importance. Original woodwork was completely restored and refinished, and a 70’s addition was removed and replaced with a historically appropriate new kitchen and master suite. Curved glass, double-hung windows were rebuilt and newly discovered wallpaper was recreated. Porches were rebuilt from Super 8 footage from the owner’s childhood. At the same time, all of the systems were fully modernized, with new HVAC chillers, a snowmelt system, and an elevator.
