New England Modern, Hingham

This new home was built on a large site set back off of a main street in Hingham. Previously the site of a collapsing Royal Barry Willis cape, the clients wanted to keep to simple New England forms while moving the overall feel of the home in a more modern direction. The exterior consists of six simple building shapes – three attached and three free-standing – clad in cedar shingles, shiplap siding, New England fieldstone, and standing seam metal roofs. The interior features an open and modern floor plan, monochromatic color scheme, an open-riser steel staircase, and a poured concrete fireplace. Phase two of the construction featured a modern pool house serving as an outdoor summer entertaining space and additional guest accommodations, with a fully functioning outdoor kitchen.
