Courtyard House, Cambridge

This new contemporary residence is nestled among more traditional homes. It’s long cantilevers and large windows direct the views into private gardens and courtyards. Even in the densely inhabited Cambridge neighborhood, the home feels protected and private, with hidden gardens and sheltered exterior spaces. Inside the lines are simple and modern surrounding a sculptural stair shaft, bringing light into the center of the residence from skylights above. The home is simple form, with serious attention paid to well-executed alignments and details. The exterior is skinned in IPE rain screen. The interiors feature a simple palette allowing the courtyards and natural lighting to sing.
