Contemporary River House, Westport

Contemporary River House, Westport

This riverside home breaks boundaries, from indoors to outdoors, from intimate to grand, from public to very private. The west side has a 10′ high by 80′ long continuous wall of glass facing the river, while the east side is largely solid, with selective openings framing views of the woods. A 16′ folding glass partition expands the living space to include a large screen porch. Finishing details are contemporary riffs on the traditional. Materials were carefully selected to feature sustainably forested wood siding, decking, and flooring, and were combined with recycled steel components both inside and out.
