front addition

Modern Addition, Newton

This project featured a modern addition to a grand historic Newton residence. The main building was stripped inside and out and restored to its original beauty on the outside with new stucco, new slate and copper roofing, and new historic windows. The addition sets off the main house with a restrained modern aesthetic. The addition includes a new family room, kitchen, attached garage, and primary suite. Windows are a mixture of patinated steel and aluminum clad. Interior finishes include steel and bronze clad fireplaces, wide plank rusticated oak flooring, and matching veneered cabinetry. Added play spaces include a full gym and kids art and playroom,  and new formal spaces include living and dining rooms with carved stone surrounds. The landscape was fully redesigned allowing a strong connection from the house to the rear yard, featuring poured concrete walls and relaxed, softened plantings.
